Baltimore, MD (12/01/06) The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) named The Barbour Group, LLC, a finalist for the 2006 Bridging the Gap Awards honoring minority and women owned firms for achievement.

The awards program is part of Bridging the Gap, a minority business initiative of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the region’s most prominent organization of business and civic leaders.

"By honoring successful minority and women-owned businesses and others in our region who show strong commitment to diversity, we underscore the economic case for making minority business development a high priority," said GBC President Donald C. Fry.

Headquartered in the Baltimore Metropolitan Region, The Barbour Group (TBG) provides surety bonds and commercial insurance services to companies in 27 states. Founded in 2002, TBG services a wide range of customers and is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable brokers specializing in surety bonds.

More information about The Bridging the Gap Initiative is available on the GBC website, www.gbc.org.
