Baltimore, MD (1/29/07) — Karen Barbour, president, The Barbour Group (TBG) has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Minority Building Industry Association (MBIA), headquartered in Upper Marlboro, MD. Barbour will join the Executive Board, chaired by Derek McDaniels of the McDaniels Companies in Lanham, MD. She will serve as the Executive Board's Secretary for the nonprofit trade association.
MBIA represents the needs and concerns of minorities in the residential
and commercial building industries throughout the Washington Metropolitan
Area. Membership includes contractors, architects, engineers, attorneys,
accountants and others.
TBG provides surety bonds for the construction industry in 27 states plus commercial insurance for professional services firms in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.
