Karen Barbour, founder and president of The Barbour Group, LLC is a veteran of the surety bonding industry, starting her career in surety as a home office bond underwriter in 1985, where she is well known as an innovator and expert within the industry.
Vanessa has 15 years of combined experience in contracting and in construction accounting working for a notable construction oriented CPA firm in Baltimore. She will now extend her expertise in bookkeeping and financial consulting services to our clients and will provide in depth underwriting knowledge to our surety markets to optimize bonding capacity and overall growth. Vanessa is a certified expert in QuickBooks which knowledge will be vital for many small business contractors. Vanessa strives to mentor and develop contractors and can especially assist Hispanic contractors given her fluency in Spanish and passion for their culture.
Surety Bond Administrator
The Barbour Group, LLC officially welcomes Kimberly Ellis to the team as our Surety Bond Administrator. Kim’s attention to detail, along with her positive energy and dedication to achieve high customer satisfaction, brings solidarity and better process to the underlying efforts of the entire team. Kim started her career with The Barbour Group in October of 2019. She recently secured her producer’s license with the State of Maryland and will be taking on a larger role at the agency as soon as COVID-19 permits.
Kim brings to the agency her many years of experience as a mortgage loan officer and business manager, as well as a high sense of urgency given her experience as a business owner, working several years as an independent consultant to firms such as Amazon.
