Karen Barbour, founder and president of The Barbour Group, LLC is a veteran of the surety bonding industry, starting her career in surety as a home office bond underwriter in 1985, where she is well known as an innovator and expert within the industry.
Vanessa has 15 years of combined experience in contracting and in construction accounting working for a notable construction oriented CPA firm in Baltimore. She will now extend her expertise in bookkeeping and financial consulting services to our clients and will provide in depth underwriting knowledge to our surety markets to optimize bonding capacity and overall growth. Vanessa is a certified expert in QuickBooks which knowledge will be vital for many small business contractors. Vanessa strives to mentor and develop contractors and can especially assist Hispanic contractors given her fluency in Spanish and passion for their culture.
Commercial Risk & Surety Growth Advisor – South Florida area
Roderick is a qualified commercial risk & surety growth advisor. He joins with 15 years’ experience in the insurance and surety/construction industry. Prior to joining the industry, Roderick represented the United States, contracted to work as a liaison for Shek Khalid Fasil Alqissomi in United Arab Emirates trading a wide range of commodities, managing risks, and providing inland marine coverage for goods and commodities shipped within the GCC region from the US. Drawing on his experience in property and casualty insurance, risk management, resolving critical claim issues, coverage explanation, subrogation and business development, Roderick expanded his services to include surety bonding through The Barbour Group in 2019. Roderick brings value through his strong customer focus on “serving, not selling,” thereby sharing his expertise and empowering his clients.
